JACK WILLIAMSON Teaching Science Fiction ISAAC ASIMOV, CARL SAGAN, URSULA LEGUIN

TEACHING SCIENCE FICTION: EDUCATION FOR TOMORROW ed. JACK WILLIAMSON. Owlswick Press, 1980. Later printing. As new. Without dustjacket, as issued. STILL IN SHRINK WRAP. From the publisher’s uncirculated stock. I can tell this is a later printing because the price on the back board is $17.50 and the price on the first edition was $15.00. Also, the first edition used a brown, rather than reddish ink for the cover lettering. The publisher has since died, but before he did he turned over the stock to me, so I will admit that I have more than one copy. Hence the remainder price. This is a very useful book for teachers of science fiction or people just interested in the analysis of science fiction. Williamson was not only a great pioneer of science fiction itself (his career extended from 1928 to about 2003) but instrumental in getting science fiction accepted as a subject to be taught in schools. This book is an anthology of essays. Contents: CARL SAGAN. Preface: Science Fiction — a Personal View. JACK WILLIAMSON: Introduction, the Infinity Connection 1. THE TOPIC: URSULA K. FOREIGN BUYERS: American postal rates for international mail are now prohibitive for most purposes. The only practical method of shipping books or magazines out of the US is to group a lot of them in a flat-rate priority box. Inquire before you bid. Please note that the foreign postage prices are a guess. If they prove too high, I will refund the difference.
